MOOD proposes paper stories, where surfaces, signs, tactility, colours, and the possibility of composing and decomposing explore Maria Montessori’s world in an unusual way, proposing objects that are freely inspired by her philosophy, telling a new version of it.

‘Hands are the tools of man's intelligence’

MOOD, The Montessori Touch was born from the passion of a group of designers for the thought of Maria Montessori.
We came across the illustrious scientist’s pedagogy many years ago, collaborating with Italian Montessori institutions, discovering the modernity of her educational method by participating in 2007 in the conception of the international conference ‘Montessori. A design for pedagogy’ and being thunderstruck by the beauty of the development materials, their design and the perfect relationship between forms and concepts.
 
After years of reflection around the Montessori universe and its powerful imagery made of disruptive words, innovative shapes and geometries, sensory materials, revolutionary ideas around childhood and beyond, what we were left with was the happy sensation of a physical and metaphorical ‘touch’ and hence the desire to tell the story.
In the Montessori educational method, hands touch to know, but what remains in the soul is a much deeper touch, a mood that accompanies one throughout life.
 
This is why MOOD proposes ‘paper tales’, where surfaces, signs, tactility, colours, the possibility of composing and decomposing, explore Maria Montessori’s world in an unusual way, proposing objects that are freely inspired by her philosophy, telling a new version of it.
 
And it is no coincidence that the items proposed by MOOD are designed and manufactured in Italy, in Chiaravalle (AN), a few steps away from the house where the pedagogist was born.
