MOOD, The Montessori Touch, was founded by a group of designers who are passionate about the Maria Montessori method and what it represents.
We came across the illustrious scientist’s methodology many years ago as we collaborated with Italian Montessori institutes. As we discovered Montessori’s world, still modern to this day, we helped plan and organize an International congress aptly named “Montessori. Design for education.” Over the years we have always admired the beauty of the Montessori development materials, their design and the perfect proportions of form and concept.
As designers we have taken on the task of harnessing her powerful ideology made up of disruptive words, of innovative geometry and shapes, of sensory materials and revolutionary ideas founded upon the how children look at the world around us. And over the years, as we reflected on Montessori and her method, we have found time and again that we have been “touched by the Montessori touch”, physically and metaphorically, and we felt the need to tell the story.
Maria Montessori famously said, “The hands are the tools of the human intellect.” In the Montessori education method we utilize our hands in order to gain knowledge, but what truly stays with us as we go through life is a more profound touch, a mood.

It is no coincidence that the MOOD branded products are designed and manufactured in Italy, in Chiaravalle (AN), a short walk from the Maria Montessori’s home.
MOOD, The Montessori Touch is an homage to the beauty that flows throughout Montessori’s philosophy.
